Powerful Relationships

How can anyone know about you that which you do not know about yourself?

Relationships and sex are probably two of the most written about topics in the developed world. Everybody wants to know how to have great relationships and they usually mean intimate and romantic.

There is an argument, however, for seeing all of life in terms of relationships: family, friends, lovers, co-workers, neighbours, even strangers. There is much evidence to suggest that when we humans don’t know how to relate well we suffer and often become ill.

If relating is such a core part of being human then why do we struggle with it, why doesn’t it just come naturally?

Inscribed on the Oracle of Delphi temple in ancient Greece were the words, “Know Thyself” — the most overlooked relationship is the one you have with your self. If you don’t know who you are and if you don’t take the time to discover who you are then how can you possibly express your ‘self’ to another — how can any other know about you that which you do not know about your self.

To know your self goes way beyond your parents, your birthplace and what you do for a living. To know your self; to have a relationship with your self, is a singular act of courage and probably the greatest gift you can give to your self and the people in your world.

Having a great relationship with your self means looking honestly at the inner conversations, learning about the nature of the ego, moving beyond shame and guilt and ultimately reaching a place where you are your own best friend.

As you move through this journey of self-discovery you begin to attract different people and experiences into your life. People are naturally attracted to those who have a healthy and loving sense of self.

Powerful Relationships is designed as a supportive process for discovering your true self. Working with individuals and couples I bring my own joy of living and relating, my love, and depth of experience in creating potent and dynamic relationships.
